Community Giving

The Calgary Parking Authority is proud to be part of the great city of Calgary. As a way of giving back to the community and saying thank you to Calgarians, every year we sponsor a number of programs and donate to local charities. Our staff also take part in a variety of fundraising efforts to collect funds for causes they support.

This past year, we donated almost $6,500 to the United Way. Much of this money came from individual contributions from our staff members. Our annual Stampede charity auction raised $1,500 for United Way and $1,000 for Adopt-A-Family.

Our staff also make a point of retrieving the Canadian Tire money from vehicles that are about to be recycled. Last year that amounted to more than $500, and when staff members took the money to Southland Canadian Tire, the store manager generously agreed to match that amount dollar for dollar for the fourth year in a row. The money was used to buy a whole pile of toys that were personally delivered to the Alberta Children’s Hospital and many happy children.

Our 2011 Food Bank drive raised over 890 pounds of food. In addition, the Calgary Parking Authority donated $3,000 to the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank. We also donated $2,000 to the Veteran’s Food Bank. The Veteran’s Food Bank was created by the Royal Canadian Legion to assist with shelter, food, medical and dental care.

The CPA is also a participant in Candian Blood Services' Partners for Life Program. Many of our staff make annual committments to save lives through blood donations.
